The GBG Debating Club celebrated a successful friendly match against the young debating team from HTG Lörrach. Our Junior debaters competed in two exciting rounds and managed to secure victories in both debates.
The motions discussed were “This House Supports the Payment of Students’ Internships” and “This House Would Allow Students to Use AI for Their Homework”. Both debates were decided by very narrow margins and demonstrated the impressive talent and potential of the HTG team. At the same time, our Juniors showed just how much they have improved over the past year. Their confidence, teamwork, and debating skills highlighted the remarkable progress they have made.
The best speakers for GBG were Zoe and Simon. Simon also received the prestigious Excellence of Speaking Award for his outstanding performance.
Looking back on the season, the Juniors achieved two victories in six competition rounds during their second debating season. Matti finished among the top 25 speakers of the entire tournament, an excellent achievement that reflects the growing strength of the club.
The GBG Debating Club will continue next school year and welcomes new members from all year groups starting with Grade 7. We look forward to another exciting season of debating and competition.
GBG Debating Club gewinnt Trainingsdebate gegen HTG Lörrach
Der GBG Debating Club konnte einen erfolgreichen Friendly Match gegen das junge Debattierteam des HTG Lörrach feiern. Unsere Juniors traten in zwei spannenden Debattenrunden an und konnten beide Begegnungen für sich entscheiden.
Debattiert wurden die Motions „This House Supports the Payment of Students’ Internships“ sowie „This House Would Allow Students to Use AI for Their Homework“. Beide Debatten wurden nur mit knappem Vorsprung entschieden und zeigten eindrucksvoll, über welch großes Talent die Debattierenden aus Lörrach bereits verfügen. Gleichzeitig machten unsere Juniors deutlich, wie stark sie sich im vergangenen Jahr weiterentwickelt haben. Ihr selbstbewusstes Auftreten, ihre Teamarbeit und ihre argumentativen Fähigkeiten unterstrichen den enormen Fortschritt, den sie gemacht haben.
Als beste Speaker des GBG wurden Zoe und Simon ausgezeichnet. Simon erhielt darüber hinaus den begehrten Excellence of Speaking Award für seine herausragende Leistung.
In ihrer zweiten Debattiersaison konnten die Juniors insgesamt zwei Siege in sechs Wettbewerbsrunden erringen. Matti schaffte es zudem unter die besten 25 Speaker des gesamten Turniers – ein großartiger Erfolg und ein weiterer Beleg für die positive Entwicklung des Clubs.
Auch im kommenden Schuljahr wird die Debating-AG wieder angeboten und freut sich über neue Mitglieder aus allen Klassenstufen ab Klasse 7. Wir freuen uns auf eine weitere spannende Debattiersaison.
